Had a good life, a fine career

Some high culture, bit of veneer

But looking back at my young years

Some great big gaps sure do appear

Buried in books did well at school

But at dances stuck on my stool

Pimply shy kid, just could not dance

Never did take a chance

Thank God buddies took me along

So I could feel I did belong

But wherever I hung my hat

I never ever forgot that…….

I so wished I could have been in a band like the Esquires

Cause back then on the local scene rock music set the girls on fire

Since then I’ve been through a lot But I still harbour that dream

So why not give it a shot However quixotic it may seem

I’ve got to give music a try

See if any of my stuff can fly

Devote a good chunk of my time

To come up with licks and rhymes

I can’t rule out giving it a go

Cause I ain’t the man from Adano

So many other boys gave it a bye

It’s a dirty shame if I don’t try

Yes the odds are so very long

But when I struggle with a song

I need to be no matter what

Driven by the memory that…….
